The second set of concurrent sessions:

  • "Advancing the Mission Through Membership, Communications, and Marketing," Pris Mowinkel, Farmers Branch (TX) Branch, AAUW membership committee, speaker

  • "Do Your Finances Need a Make Over?" Dr. Patricia Williams, past president, AAUW-KS, speaker

  • "An AAUW Project:  The Christmas Bureau," Gwen Howard, Shawnee Mission (KS) Branch, Johnson County Christmas Bureau past chair, speaker

A very exciting, successful AAUW project!

Gwen Howard explained the history of the Johnson County Christmas Project, which was created in 1960 by AAUW members to serve the needs of low-income families of Johnson County, Kansas. Through donations of money, food, clothing, gifts, toys, and personal care items, JCCB provides necessary assistance to clients at their annual Holiday Shop in December.  In 2006, over 8,800 individuals were served with women and children comprising over 80%. The Holiday Shop helps those that would otherwise not have a holiday.
