Nancy Gerber, chair of the AAUW Metropolitan St. Louis Interbranch Council, kicked off the event by introducing Donna Eichman (left), chair of  the IBC Barbara Lackritz AAUW Service Award committee.  Donna announced the winners of the 7th annual award.  Barbara Barnett and Lynne Roney (right) were co-winners.  Barbara is a past president of Missouri AAUW (1973-1975) and a member of the St. Charles Branch.  She was unable to attend the luncheon.  Lynne is past president of AAUW of Missouri (2006-2008) and a member of the Kirkwood-Webster Groves Branch.  Donna is a member of the Creve Coeur Branch.

The St. Louis IBC voted to create this service recognition award in 2003.  The purpose is to recognize branch members in the metro area who have contributed many years of selfless, dedicated service to the promotion of the AAUW mission.  The late Barbara Lackritz, president of AAUW of Missouri from 2000-2002, was a recipient of the first AAUW MO Woman of Distinction Award in 1984.  As MO president, she brought AAUW MO and AAUW IL together for the first-ever joint state convention. She then brought MO and AR together in Branson.  Barb was a member of the Creve Coeur Branch with dual membership in the Kirkwood-Webster Groves and Ballwin-Chesterfield branches.  She was selected as the first recipient of the Lackritz Award
Lynne Roney (left) and Barbara Barnett (right) were later recognized at the Missouri delegates' assembly held on Sunday, June 26th, after the 2009 AAUW national convention at the Renaissance Hotel in St. Louis.
