Protect Our Public Schools (May 14)
Out-of-state
special interest groups are relentless in their campaign to undermine Missouri's
public schools, and there's no time to lose. There's a hearing on HB1526 this
afternoon and a final vote is likely this week.
This bill is
wrong for Missouri - but anti-public education lobbyists are pushing hard for
passage. Our schools should serve Missouri children, not special interest groups
or CEOs. Missouri students, parents and teachers deserve better than
out-of-state attacks and misinformation. There's no time to lose, please take a
moment and send an email and then call.
Reproductive Rights (May 14)
SB749, sponsored by Sen. John Lamping of St. Louis, passed
the Senate and is about to be debated on the House floor. SB 749 seeks to undo
the new federal rule and allow any employer to deny birth control and
sterilization coverage to their employees simply because they have a “moral”
objection.
The House has amended SB749 with additional language that
allows any hospital employee to refuse to provide reproductive health
care because they have a “moral” objection. This is outrageous and must be
stopped!
